Located in Fulford, opened May 2023. The York Opticians is an independent practice with a family feel. We are proud to be able to offer myopia management care for our younger patients and are excited to be one of the first opticians in York to own the Myopia Expert 700 machine.
Simon is the owner and director of the practice, although he will usually be found working away upstairs for our sister company, Extreme Eyewear. He has a passion for all things sports eyewear.
Kim Read
Optometrist
BSC (Hons)
Kim qualified in 1993 and has worked in many settings including York Hospital eye department and with low vision and homeless charities. She also has experience in examining patients with dementia and learning disabilities. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, cooking and running to keep fit. She also recently started to learn to play the saxophone, although with limited success! Kim works with us on Wednesdays.
Maryam Ghofrani
Optometrist

Maryam has over 15 years experience in optics and has worked in various types of practices all over Yorkshire. In her spare time she loves travelling and exploring. Maryam works with us on Thursdays and alternative Saturdays.
Lauren Carey
Optical Assistant & Receptionist
Lauren is the newest member of our little team. She has over 10 years experience in customer service and will assist you with anything from booking an appointment, to finding for perfect pair of spectacles. Lauren is currently working towards her Masters in Counselling, but in her free time she loves to bake, go to the cinema, and painting.
